Compliance Information
If you would like to volunteer in the school (classroom, field trip drivers, etc), please remember that all the compliance requirements must be up-to-date. If you’re new to St. Joseph School, you’ll need to visit with our Compliance Officer (Eileen Kuns) in the parish office (telephone number 520-747-3100 extension 122). Forms are sent to the Diocese for review, so the compliance process (see below for common questions regarding the compliance procedure) takes a few weeks. Please don’t wait until a few days before a field trip and expect to be able to go. Compliance training, required of all volunteers, is conducted online. If you do not have computer access, encounter any difficulty, or have any questions, please contact the Compliance Director through the Parish Center.
Safe Environment Education Training
Throughout the year, St. Joseph Catholic School offers Safe Environment Education Training. These opportunities are posted in the school newsletters. Please check our newsletter or contact the parish office for available training.
Questions About The Compliance Procedure
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back and welcome newcomers to St. Joseph Parish School. Every year gets better with new and exciting programs and events that bring us close as a community with a common goal in our children’s education. It is also imperative that we create a safe environment for all our children at all times. St. Joseph Parish & School have a Compliance Plan that is adhered to as per the Diocesan Compliance Plan for the protection and safety of our children. Below are questions you may have concerning the Compliance Procedure. If you have other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Q Who is required to be in compliance?
A All employees, adult volunteers, parent/guardian volunteers, minor volunteers and guest/vendors.
Q Is the compliance procedure different for some than others depending how they volunteer?
A Yes. If you volunteer to supervise children during fieldtrips, school clubs, scouts, sports, or any other activities that requires supervision, you must be fingerprinted, submit permission to run a background check and attend a Safe Environment Education Training class. This is considered as a High Level Volunteer.
The Low level volunteer does not go thru the fingerprinting or background check, but are still required to attend a Safe Environment Education Training class. Contact me for more information on Low Level Volunteer. Everyone must submit an application.
Q Can I start volunteering once I have submitted my application?
A No. Your conditional clearance has to be granted first and you must complete the Safe Environment Education Training before you can start volunteering.
Q How do I get started to be in compliance?
A An application must be submitted on the Diocese of Tucson website. Both High level and Low Level volunteers must submit an application. Go to the Diocese of Tucson website to apply. Click here to download an information sheet on how to submit an application.
Q Is there a fee?
A Yes. There is a fee for the finger printing depending on where you go to get your prints done. You may pick up a finger print card from our Parish Office. Click here for a list of finger print sites. There is a Renewal fee of $12.50 along with the Renewal Application (a new finger print card is not required if renewed within 90 days of expiration).
Sincerely in Christ’s Peace,
