Denise Grijalva - Music Grades K-5

Mrs. Grijalva was born in West LA, California and later moved to El Paso, Texas, where she completed Elementary and Junior High School.  She went on to finish High School in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Since 1987, Mrs. Grijalva has lived in Tucson.  A professional student of sorts, she has attended Oregon Institute of Technology, Oregon State University, Pima Community College and the University of Arizona. Upon completion she has earned her BA in Elementary Education with a General Science and Gifted and Talented Education Endorsement at the University of Arizona.  She is currently considering obtaining a Masters in Music Education.

Mrs. Grijalva has always been interested in music.  She has played piano since she was 5 years old when she sat at the piano and taught herself how to read music.  Soon after, she started taking lessons and has continued her studies as a student of piano to this day.   After all, she says, “You can never be good enough.”  She has sung in church choirs, Jazz choirs, Show choirs, a Quartet, musicals. She has also studied Opera and even sang and played keyboard in a Country Band.   In high school, she performed in the Theater Arts.

Mrs. Grijalva is married and has two beloved children and 3 precious grandchildren.  In her free time, she enjoys gardening, traveling, sewing, crafting, and spending time with her family.
